Volleyball Sweeps Fordham for 10th Win of Season

ST. LOUIS - Freshman Danielle Rygelski led the Billiken offense with 15 kills (.324 attack percentage) en route to a sweep of Fordham in the Bronx. Saint Louis is now 10-14 overall and 6-3 in the Atlantic 10. 

Sophomore Megan Gilbert also had a terrific day at the net, recording 10 kills on 14 attacks without an error (.714 attack percentage). Senior Jessica Jendryk continued to play solid defense with four blocks in the match. Jendryk has now recorded at least four blocks in four consecutive matches. The Billiken defense held the Rams to a .080 attack percentage over the match.

In the first set, the Billiken front line dominated the net. In the opening set alone, the Bills tallied three blocks and held the Fordham attack to a -.053 attack percentage. Rygelski led the offense with four kills in the first as SLU won 25-18.

Rygelski and Gilbert each recorded five kills in the second set. Gilbert was five-for-six in attempts and powered the Billikens to a 25-23 win. 

Rygelski topped off a great day offensively with six kills in the deciding set. Gilbert contributed on offense with four kills on five attacks, and defense with a set-best five digs. Saint Louis completed the sweep with a 25-22 set three win. 

The Billikens return to Chaifetz Pavilion on Nov. 8, when they host Rhode Island. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The game will be Camp Reunion Night and all Billiken Volleyball campers receive free admission if they wear their camp shirt.
