The Billikens dropped the third game of the series with Oral Roberts by a score
of 5-0. The loss drops the Bills to 2-1 after the first weekend of the
year. Sophomore RHP Nick Bates gets the loss after going 4.1 innings pitched with four hits
and one strikeout.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead, driving in
two runs in the bottom of the first. Oral Roberts added to its lead in the
fourth with a solo home run from first baseman Chris Williams. The fourth ORU
run came in the sixth via a sacrifice bunt.
The final run came in the bottom of the eighth to bring the final tally
to 5-0 in favor of ORU.
Freshman Braxton
Martinez led the Billikens at the plate. He went one-for-three with a walk.
The Billikens leave Tulsa with a 2-1 record against the
Golden Eagles, a rare feat for any team. Over the past ten years, ORU has compiled
a home record of 231-41 a .849 win percentage.
Saint Louis will take the week off before taking on Northern
Kentucky in a three-game series in Nashville, Tenn. on Feb. 22. Game one will
start at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Game two will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday,
Feb. 23. The final meeting between the two squads will start at 1:00 p.m. on
Sunday, Feb. 24.
