Box Score ST. LOUIS - The
Saint Louis baseball team struggled in an 11-5 loss against Holy Cross. The
Billikens drop to 10-6 on the season. Brett
Vanover (1-1) gets the loss, but struck out three in 3.1 IP.
The Bills fell behind early after surrendering three runs in
the first inning. They battled back in the second with a run on an Alec Solé RBI single. Saint Louis added
another run in the third with a C.J.
Rose groundout that scored Braxton
Martinez and drew the scored to 3-2 through three innings.
The Crusaders poured on the offense in the rest of the game.
Holy Cross tacked on eight runs in the next five innings. The Billikens had
four errors in that span, a season high.
In the ninth, the Bills mounted a comeback. A.J. VanderVorste hit an RBI triple to
start the rally. T.J. Verdun hit a
pitch hit, RBI single to score VanderVorste. Solé ripped a RBI single to score
Verdun and bring the score to 11-5. However, SLU was unable to score again and
will leave San Diego with a 2-2 record.
The Billikens will return to St. Louis for a six-game home
stand. The first game at the Billiken Sports Center will be against Western
Illinois on March 12. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
