Box Score RICHMOND, VA. – The Saint Louis Billikens dropped their second consecutive game against Richmond with a 3-1 loss in Richmond, Va. The Bills fall to 29-13 on the year and 11-3 in the conference. Sophomore RHP Nick Bates (6-3) was pegged with the loss.
Richmond has now won six contests in a row against SLU. This is only the second three-game series that the Billikens have lost this season.
All of the game's scoring came in the first inning. Saint Louis scored in the top of the inning on a Mike Vigliarolo double to left center. Richmond tacked on three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the early lead.
Both team's pitchers threw well in the game. Bates had a nice outing, despite the loss. He threw 6.2 innings with seven strikeouts and three walks. Only two of the three runs allowed were earned. At the plate, Alec Solé went three-for-four, his fifth three-hit game of the season.
Game three will take place tomorrow in Richmond. Junior RHP Clay Smith will get the start for Saint Louis.
