CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Hannah Kuenzel highlighted the Billikens' performance at the Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, claiming the individual title in the shot put with a heave of 14.06 meters Sunday at Charlotte's Irwin Belk Track.
Also claiming All-Conference honors - given to student-athletes who finish first or second in their respective events - was Jessica Hoefert, who finished second in the 10,000 meters with at time of 35.35.80. Margo Richardson registered second-team All-Conference plaudits in the 1,500 meters, finished second in a time of 4:28.37. Richardson also finished third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:55.12.
Kita Alvares qualified for the finals in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. She finished third in the 400-meter hurdle finals with a school-record time of 59.91.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Alvares, Allison Walter, Brooklynn Bastain and Ashley Roche finished fourth with a time of 3:46.34.
On the men's side, Sean Canavin finished fourth overall in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.97.
The men's 4x800-meter relay squad of Canavin, Stewart Van Horne, Pat Sheil and Jeff Orf finished fifth with a time of 7:36.49.
The women paced eighth overall, while the men finished 12th.
Several Billikens will travel to Louisville for the Cardinal Twilight May 10. Then, the Billikens await to see who qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, set for May 23-25 in Austin, Texas.
