Billikens Power Past SIUE for 9-4 Win

ST. LOUIS - Alec Solé was 4-5 with four RBIs and Colton Frabasilio had a three-run blast to lead Saint Louis to a 9-4 win over SIU Edwardsville. The Billikens rise to 19-11 overall with the win. Sophomore Josh Moore (2-1) gets the win in the split start.

The Bills scored first in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Braxton Martinez, scoring Solé. 

In the top of the second, SIUE hit a three-run home run off Moore. It was the first home run surrendered by Moore in his Saint Louis career (78.1 IP). The Billikens responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning, (Solé RBI single), but trailed the Cougars 3-2 through two.

In the third, freshman Drew Curtis drove in Martinez with an RBI single to tie the game at three. The next batter, Solé drove in two runs on a single up the middle, giving SLU a 5-3 edge through three innings.

Saint Louis padded its lead in the fourth after a three-run home run from Frabasilio, bringing the score to 8-3. Solé drove in another run later in the frame, giving SLU a 9-3 lead.

SIUE managed to plate another run in the fifth, but SLU held the lead for a 9-4 win.

Freshman Zach Girrens was strong in relief, tossing 3.1 innings allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out five and walking one. 

The Billikens return to action this weekend, April 11-13, when they take on Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. for an Atlantic 10 Conference series.
