ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis junior catcher Jake Henson delivered a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth as the Billikens top Troy 2-1 in the COX Diamond Invitational. Saint Louis rises to 2-3 overall. Sophomore Zach Girrens (1-0) gets the win.

Billiken starting pitcher Josh Moore turned in a great game, throwing eight innings and allowing five hits, one earned run and six strikeouts with no walks.

Troy and Saint Louis each had reliable starting pitching in the game. Saint Louis scored first in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double from Henson. Troy answered in the top of the eighth with an RBI single.

In the ninth, SLU had Braxton Martinez at bat with two away in the 1-1 ball game. He worked a seven pitch at bat and was hit by a pitch. The next batter, Colton Frabasilio drew a five-pitch walk to move Martinez to scoring position for Henson. Henson ripped a 1-2 pitch into left center, scoring Martinez and giving SLU the victory.

Henson was 2-3 on the day with a double and both of SLU's RBIs.

Next up for Saint Louis is Southern Miss. tomorrow, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. The Billikens have senior RHP Clay Smith on the hill.
