HAMMOND, La. – Brianna Lore allowed just one run through the first seven innings, but Arkansas' Kasey Fagan hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Razorbacks a 4-1 win over Saint Louis Friday afternoon at Southeastern Louisiana's Lion Classic Scramble.
Saint Louis (4-5) trailed 1-0 after Arkansas (8-7) scored in the fourth. The Billikens tied it in the sixth when Alex Nickel led off with a single, advanced to second on a Mackenzie Peter sacrifice and to third on a wild pitch, and scored on another wild pitch with two outs.
Both teams had an opportunity to win in the seventh. But SLU stranded two runners in the top of the inning, and Lore escaped a bases-loaded jam unscathed for a second time in the game in the bottom half. The junior left-hander also left the sacks full in the fourth after Arkansas scored its first run.
Lore also had two singles, while Elizabeth Everingham and Hailey Weavers collected a single apiece.
Following the game, the Billikens played Southeast Missouri State.
