ST. LOUIS - The first two games of the Saint Louis series against Saint Peter's were dominated by the SLU offense. The second two games were dominated by pitching. The Billikens won the first game of the day 5-1 and the second game 1-0 (seven innings). With the wins, Saint Louis rises to 8-6 on the year.

Sophomore Zach Girrens (2-0) earned the start in game one and kept the Peacocks off-balance for six innings. He finished with 6.0 IP, two hits, four walks and a career-high 10 strikeouts. Girrens' 10 strikeouts also are a season high for Saint Louis. He picked up his second win of the season and lowered his season ERA to 0.57.

As a staff, Saint Louis struck out 15 batters in nine innings. The Billikens only struck out three times.

The SLU offense was led by Michael Bozarth, who went 3-4 with two runs scored and two steals.

In game two, freshman Connor Lehmann got the start. He struck out five, walked one and allowed one hit in two innings pitched. Lehmann was relieved by Damian Rivera (1-0) who picked up the win, his first of the season. Brett Shimanovsky picked up his second save of the season, throwing three innings with no hits, no runs, one walk and three strikeouts. 

The Billiken offense was held to two hits, but showed discipline at the plate, drawing four walks in seven innings. 

Next up for SLU is a rescheduled contest against Southeast MIssouri State. The Billikens will host the Redhawks at the Billiken Sports Center on March 10 at 3 p.m.
