Box Score ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis baseball trailed La Salle for five innings before rallying to defeat the Explorers 9-4. Senior Damian Rivera (2-0) picked up the win, the 16th of his career. He is tied for eighth all time at Saint Louis in victories. The Billikens rise to 22-12 overall and 5-3 in Atlantic 10 contests.
La Salle scored a pair of runs in the first and one run in both the fourth and fifth to take a 4-0 lead over SLU through five.
In the sixth, the Billikens loaded the bases with their first three hitters, forcing the Explorers to the bullpen. Jake Henson and Josh Bunselmeyer drew back-to-back walks, to score SLU's first two runs of the game. Braxton Martinez lifted a sacrifice fly to deep center field, bringing SLU within one. Parker Sniatynski followed with an RBI single to left, tying the game at four. Saint Louis took the lead when Danny Mannion hit a grounder up the middle, allowing Bunselmeyer to score.
Saint Louis had another big inning in the seventh with Bunselmeyer driving in a pair with a two-run double. Bunselmeyer scored on a Sniatynski home run down the left field line. It was his first homer as a Billiken.
In the eighth inning, Mike Vigliarolo hit a double down the left field line, his eighth of the season and 53rd of his career. He is now one double behind Adam Gabris for SLU's all-time doubles record.
The rubber match between Saint Louis and La Salle is tomorrow April 11 at the Billiken Sports Center. Clay Smith will get the ball for SLU. First pitch is set for noon.
