THE BASICS

•Host team Kennesaw State scored four runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat Saint Louis 4-0 Friday afternoon at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament.

•SLU, which edged Morehead State 1-0 earlier in the day, fell to 1-1. Kennesaw State was playing its season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED

•The Billikens managed just two walks until Mackenzie Lawson broke up Logan Viers' no-hit bid with a two-out bunt single in the fifth inning. It was Saint Louis' only hit of the game.

•Alex Nickel, Mackenzie Peter and Allie Macfarlane drew a walk apiece.

•Kaylea Chappelle struck out three in two innings of relief work.
