THE BASICS

•Hailey Weavers smashed a three-run home run, and Emma Buckles and Allie Macfarlane recorded multi-hit games, but SIUE escaped the Billiken Sports Center with a 7-3 win over Saint Louis Tuesday evening.

•Saint Louis slipped to 17-20, while SIUE improved to 35-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED

•SIUE drew first blood, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.

•Saint Louis tied it in the bottom of the second. Following walks to Alyssa Tarquinio and Taylor Meeks to begin the inning, Weavers lifted a ball over the left-field fence for her fourth home run of the season.

•SLU put at least one runner aboard in every frame, but the second-inning tallies were all the Billikens would manage. SIUE went on to plate a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

•Buckles was 3-for-4.

•Macfarlane was 2-for-4, including a double.

•Tarquinio, Josie Knesel and Mackenzie Lawson registered a single apiece.
