THE BASICS

• Saint Louis claimed a second consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference victory Sunday afternoon, defeating Fordham 3-2 (26-28, 25-14, 25-20, 22-25, 15-9) in a thrilling match at Chaifetz Pavilion.

• SLU improved to 4-16 overall and 3-5 in the A-10. Fordham fell to 9-11, 2-5.

FIRST SET

Fordham opened with a 6-1 run, but Saint Louis battled back to forge the first of 12 ties in the set, 6-6. The Rams fought off three set points and the Billikens saved one themselves before consecutive kills gave the set to Fordham.

SECOND SET

The Billikens turned a 6-5 lead into a 20-9 cushion with a 14-4 run.

THIRD SET

SLU took the lead for good at 2-1. The key stretch in the set was a 7-3 spurt that put the Billikens on top 19-13, and the Rams drew no closer than four points the rest of the way.

FOURTH SET

Following numerous early ties, Fordham used a 5-0 run to establish a 15-11 lead. Saint Louis chipped away and drew even at 17, then erased a 20-17 Fordham lead with three straight points for a 20-20 deadlock. The set was tied at 22 before the Rams collected the final three points to square the match.

FIFTH SET

After Fordham gained a 3-1 lead, the teams traded points before a 4-0 run gave Saint Louis an 8-6 advantage. The Rams leveled the set 8-8, but the Billikens closed with a strong 7-1 run.

NOTABLE

• The Billikens posted season highs of 75 kills, 88 digs and 67 assists.

• Sara Daniels' seven blocks (two solo, five assist) are SLU's season high and a career high for the freshman. Daniels also recorded a career-high 11 kills (11-3-25, .320).

• Maya Taylor led all players with 20 kills and narrowly missed a double-double by notching nine digs.

• Giovanna Charles swatted 19 kills, posted a career-high seven digs and matched her career high of three blocks.

• Kennedy Cordia established a career high with 62 assists and completed her eighth double-double of the season (sixth in conference play) with 11 digs.

• Cayce Chaykowski registered a match-high 28 digs.

• Isabelle Walsh turned in 13 kills, her career high in an A-10 match.

• Sien Gallop tied SLU's season high with four service aces and added 12 digs.

• Lauren Mershon had a .333 attack percentage (7-1-18).
