STREAKING BILLIKENS SWEEP BOILERMAKERS

Box Score

SAINT LOUIS - [BOX SCORE] Saint Louis University Baseball did something no team had done since May of 2017 to Purdue on Sunday. The Billikens completed the series sweep over the Boilermakers, the first time the team from West Lafayette had been swept since their series from May 12-14, 2017 against the Michigan Wolverines, in a 7-3 victory.

Purdue struck first in the top of the second. Catcher Nick Dalesandro tagged the first pitch he saw to center field past a diving Aaron Case, and put the lead run 90 feet away. Ben Nisle drove him in two batters later on a sacrifice fly to left field and made it a 1-0 game.

Saint Louis (11-7) came back in the bottom of the fifth thanks to key hits from the middle of the order. Jake Garella and Carter Hanford both drove in runs before a two-run triple from James Morisano broke the game wide open and gave the Billikens a 4-1 lead.

Saint Louis' Drew Reveno got the start and put together a big outing for the home club. The junior from San Jose, Calif., went 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits to get his third win of the season, his first as a starter.

The Billikens tacked-on three more in the bottom of the seventh, including Carter Hanford's third home run of the season, and swept the Boilermakers out of St. Louis with a big series sweep.

Hanford had another great game on Sunday. The third baseman went 2-4 with three RBI. Parker Sniatynski also recorded two hits on the day with two runs scored.

James Morisano finished the series on Sunday with a big game as well. The senior backstop went 2-3 including the triple in the fifth inning. It was his first triple of the year.

With the wins, the Billikens extend their winning streak to 10 games, the longest current streak in NCAA Division I, as they head back out on the road for the first time in three weeks. Saint Louis will visit Iowa on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CST.
