Box Score SAINT LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Saint Louis University Baseball grabbed its fourth win in a row on Friday as the bats were hot. The Billikens posted nine runs on 14 hits to earn a 9-1 win in the series opener with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.
Saint Louis (5-7) took control in the bottom of the third as they put the first two hits on the board in the contest. Nick Reeser and Cole Dubet hit back-to-back singles to put runners at first and second with one out. After Aaron Case drew the one-out walk, the Billikens got on the board.
With the bases loaded, Alex King delivered the game's first two runs on a two-RBI single through the left side to make it 2-0.
Parker Sniatynski came to the plate next and loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch, and brought Jake Garella to the dish.
With the Billiken right fielder at the plate, a wild pitch allowed Case to score and made it 3-0. Garella followed that up with a sacrifice fly to left center and put an exclamation point on the inning with a total of four runs in the frame.
In the top of the fourth the Golden Grizzlies answered with a two-out run. Tyler Trovinger took the first pitch he saw over the wall in left field to cut the Billiken lead to 4-1.
Saint Louis got the run back in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out rally. Jake Garella singled with two away and brought-up Carter Hanford. The Billiken third baseman knocked an RBI double to the wall in right center and made it a 5-1 game.
James Morisano knocked in Hanford shortly thereafter and the home team never looked back. The Billikens added four more, including a Morisano solo homer to right field, to preserve the fifth win of the season.
Miller Hogan delivered another fantastic outing for the Billikens. The junior went seven full innings and allowed just three hits with nine strikeouts on the day in a 94-pitch day.
Charlie Sheehan entered in the eighth and took things from there. The sophomore went two innings and allowed two runs on three hits with three strikeouts
Morisano led the Billiken offense on the day. The senior backstop recorded three hits and his third home run of the year, which raised his batting average to .300.
Alex King continued his hot hitting on Friday. The senior finished 2-4 at the plate with three RBI, tying a career-high for RBI in a game. The Billiken shortstop's average is now up to .256.
Nick Reeser finished with a two-hit day, hit first multi-hit game of the season.
Saint Louis will head back to work on Saturday in a doubleheader to wrap-up the series. First pitch in game one is slated for 12:00 p.m.
