Box Score SAINT LOUIS - [BOX SCORE] Saint Louis University Baseball watched as ace pitcher Miller Hogan took control on Friday. The junior tossed his second complete game of the year as he led the Billikens to a 5-0 victory over the La Salle Explorers.
Saint Louis (26-15, 12-1 A-10) stopped its six-game losing streak in its tracks as Hogan put together what some may call his best collegiate outing of his career. The right-handed pitcher recorded nine strikeouts and allowed just three hits in his first complete game shutout of his career.
Saint Louis pulled ahead for good in the second inning thanks to a bases-loaded walk. Jake Garella began the inning with a free pass before Nick Reeser put runners at second and third with a double to left center. Two consecutive outs later, James Morisano walked on four-straight balls which allowed Griffin Robinson to the plate the winning run with bases loaded and two outs.
Robinson, the designated hitter for the Billikens on Friday, walked on five pitches to make it a 1-0 game.
The Billikens scored four insurance runs in the fifth as Alex King continued to hit the long ball. The senior shortstop drilled his team-leading ninth home run, a three-run shot, and put the game firmly in the hands of Saint Louis.
King, Aaron Case and Nick Reeser ended with two hits apiece as Saint Louis captured its Atlantic 10-leading 12th victory in conference play.
The Billikens will look to snag the series win on Saturday as Jackson Wark will head to the hill and go for his eighth win of the year. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
