Box Score SAINT LOUIS - [BOX SCORE] To say it was a good day at the plate would be an understatement for Saint Louis University Baseball on Saturday. The Billikens recorded 15 runs on 18 hits with four home runs as they blew by the La Salle Explorers 15-1.
Saint Louis (27-15, 13-1 A-10) made it look easy at times on Saturday as it secured its fifth Atlantic 10 series win of the season. The Billikens posted runs in seven of the nine innings on the day as three different people sent balls over the wall.
Aaron Case continued a big weekend at the plate in the first as he set the table for the first run of the game. The center fielder doubled to lead-off the inning before Parker Sniatynski singled through the left side to make it a 1-0 game.
Ryan Hernandez plated what turned-out to be the game winner in the second. Alex King doubled to lead-off the inning and advanced to third on a single from Cole Dubet to put another runner in scoring position.
Dubet advanced to second on a wild pitch and put another runner in position to score. With one out on the board, Hernandez doubled to left field, which scored the game winning run and an insurance run to boot.
Saint Louis extended the lead to 5-0 before it hung a six-spot on the Explorers in the fourth. Carter Hanford hit the first home run of the inning on the first pitch of his at-bat, which scored Case, and made it a 7-0 game. It was the first of two home runs in the inning.
Alex King recorded his 10th home run of the year without the ball leaving the yard. The senior shortstop hit an inside-the-park round-tripper to center field, which scored Nick Reeser and Jake Garella, and put the game well out of reach for La Salle.
Sniatynski homered in the fifth before Braxton Stowe got in on the action. The first baseman hit his first home run of the year, his third hit of his career, and gave the Billikens a 14-0 advantage.
Alex King was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with three RBI, a double and a home run. Sniatynski and Cole Dubet both recorded two hits in the game, as did Ben Livorsi. The Billiken backstop posted his first career two-hit day on Saturday as he finished 2-2 with a double and a run scored.
Lost in all the offense was the dominant pitching performance of Jackson Wark. The rightr-handed pitcher tossed six innings of two-hit baseball as he grabbed his eighth win of the season.
Saint Louis will wrap-up the Philadelphia excursion on Sunday as Drew Reveno is set to take the hill. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CDT.
