Ninth Inning Rally Falls Short

Saint Louis fell to Dayton 2-3 on Friday in both team's Atlantic 10 Conference opener.

Connor Lehmann struck out nine in 6.0 innings of seven hit, two earned run ball, but the Billikens couldn't figure out Dayton starter Hunter Wolfe.

Wolfe threw 7.0 innings, giving up one hit and striking out ten Saint Louis batters.

Ryan Patel entered the game in relief of Lehmann, giving up one hit in 3.0 innings and striking out seven.

The Billikens mounted a rally in the bottom of the ninth, scoring two on Shane Benes' second home run of the year. The team was able to get two more runners on, but they couldn't bring them home.

Dayton and the Bills are back in action Saturday afternoon with a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.
