Box Score

Saint Louis dropped the series opener 5-8 to St. Bonaventure on Friday night.

The Billikens scored early, plating a run in the first and second inning and scoring two in the fifth, but a six-run sixth inning for the Bonnies gave them a lead that they never looked back on.

Scott Youngbrandt and Ryan Calhoun both hit their first home runs of the season during the contest. Youngbrandt smacked a two-run shot over the left field wall in the fifth inning, allowing him to go 1-4 on the night with two RBIs and one run scored. Calhoun also finished the game 1-4, including his second inning solo blast to right.

Kevin Jordan went deep for the second time in as many games.

Freshman Cam Redding was 2-4 with one run scored and a walk. He raised his season batting average to a team-leading .338.

Jack Spicer threw 3.1 scoreless innings of relief for the Billikens. He allowed one hit, two walks and struck out six.

The two teams will meet Saturday afternoon to wrap up the series. The double header's first pitch is set for 12 p.m. CT.
