Baseball Welcomes Seven Transfers to Roster

Saint Louis University head baseball coach Darin Hendrickson has announced the addition of seven transfers to the Billikens.

"I would like to thank assistant coaches Will Schierholz and Logan Moon for working feverishly this summer to help add these newcomers to our team," Hendrickson said. "We bring back a quality core, and these seven student-athletes will impact our club right away. They are very gifted and should fill big needs for our team instantly."

The new Billikens are:

  • Colton Hutt | RHP | Washington, Ill. | Longwood University
  • Alex Peterson | OF | Edmond, Okla. | University of Missouri
  • Cameron Pferrer | RHP | Carmel, Ind. | University of Missouri
  • Logan Schmitt | RHP | Bolingbrook ,Ill. | Miami University
  • Cameron Swanger | IF | Loveland, Ohio | University of Missouri
  • Mark Vierling | IF | St. Louis, Mo. | University of Missouri

Dominic Cusumano Dominic Cusumano | IF | St. Louis, Mo.
 High school: Westminster Christian Academy
 Height/weight: 5'10, 175 lbs
 Highlights: Competed in two NCAA Tournaments with Indiana State (2019 and 2021), both times in the Vanderbilt Regional…Hit .254 with nine extra-base hits and 15 RBIs in 130 plate appearances with the Sycamores…At Westminster, first team All-Metro and second team All-State in 2018…Posted a 66-5 career varsity baseball record at Westminster


Colton Hutt Colton Hutt | RHP | Washington, Ill.
 Previous colleges: Longwood University (2019-21), Illinois Central College (2017-19)
 High school: Washington Community
 Height/weight: 6'0, 185 lbs
 Highlights: Appeared in 16 career games at Longwood, including making seven starts…Struck out 40 batters in 41.0 innings pitched…As a sophomore at Illinois Central, posted a team-best 6-2 record across 11 starts…Earned Baseball MWAC second team All-Conference and a Gold Glove Award in 2019…Was named first team All-Mid-Illini Conference as a senior in high school

Alex Peterson Alex Peterson | OF | Edmond, Okla.
 Previous colleges: University of Missouri (2019-21), Cowley College (2018)
 High school: Edmond North
 Height/weight: 5'10, 185 lbs
 Highlights: Appeared in 65 career games for the Tigers, including 39 starts...Hit for a .250 batting average last season, with three extra-base hits and six RBIs...Was a 2018 NJCAA first team All-American at Cowley College...Also named the 2018 Jayhawk East Conference MVP and Freshman of the Year...Hit .482 with 67 runs scored, 16 doubles, eight triples, seven home runs, 84 RBIs and 23 stolen bases in 51 games played as a freshman

Cameron Pferrer Cameron Pferrer | RHP | Carmel, Ind.

 High school: Carmel
 Height/weight: 5'11, 182 lbs
 Highlights: All star in Grand Park League this summer...Appeared in 26 games for the Tigers in his career, throwing 23.2 innings and striking out 18…Saw action in 11 games as a senior, recording six punchouts across 11.2 frames…Held a 2.89 ERA in 2018…Received first team All-Conference in 2017 at Carmel…Tossed a perfect game in his senior campaign in high school…Went 4-0 on the mound as a senior at Carmel, with a 1.79 ERA and 26 strikeouts

 Highlights: Appeared in 15 games on the mound in 2021, all in relief…Went 2-2 with a 3.46 ERA…Struck out 22 batters in 26.0 innings pitched…Career 4.67 ERA since 2018, striking out 44 batters in 44.1 frames…Named to Southern Prairie All-Conference Team and second team All-Area in 2017 at Plainfield East…Lettered four times in baseball, two times in basketball and one year in golf

Cameron Swanger Cameron Swanger | IF | Loveland, Ohio
 Previous college: University of Missouri
 High school: Archbishop Moeller
 Height/weight: 6'5, 210 lbs
 Highlights: Up for Player of the Year in Grand Park Summer League...Saw action in 64 games in his three-year Tiger career, including 42 starts...Connected on 11 extra-base hits, including six home runs, and 25 RBIs...Hit .296 with a .424 OBP in a shortened 2020 campaign...At Archbishop Moeller, was named a 2018 Perfect Game Central Region Preseason All-American and earned Perfect Game Preseason Underclass All-American accolades in 2016 and 2017

Mark Vierling Mark Vierling | IF | St. Louis, Mo.

 Height/weight: 5'10, 188 lbs
 Highlights: Hit .302 in Draft League this summer...Career .261 hitter in four seasons at Missouri…Saw action in 150 games, including 136 starts…Recorded 32 extra-base hits, 71 RBIs and 14 stolen bases in his career…In 2021, hit .246 with four home runs, 21 RBIs, four doubles and four stolen bases…In an abbreviated 2020 season, started in all 16 games at second bases, posting a .297 average, 17 runs scored, five doubles, eight RBIs and one stolen base…His 17 runs scored paced the Tigers, while his 19 total hits ranked second…Hit .431 as a senior in high school with three home runs, seven triples, 13 doubles, 37 RBIs and a .784 slugging percentage…In 2017 was named Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American Central, All-Region first team
