GENEVA, Ohio – Saint Louis'
Daniel Verdico and
Philip Costello competed in the championship final of the 100 breast Friday on day three of the Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
Verdico turned in the best individual performance for the Billiken men thus far, placing fifth in 55.37, while Costello finished eighth in 55.67.
Jeddrick Gamilla touched second (56.22) in the 100 breast consolation final for a 10th-place overall finish.
Janssen Gamilla qualified for the 100 fly championship final and placed seventh in 48.51.
Also scoring for the SLU men's team were
Preston Waldusky, 13th in the 400 IM (3:59.63), and
Nick Soltys, 16th in the 100 fly (49.72). Additionally,
Ross Adkins swam a school-record 50.84 in a 100 IM time trial, breaking
Collin O'Brien's previous school standard of 51.27.
The men's 400 medley relay squad of
Matthew Terrian, Verdico,
Janssen Gamilla and
Wyatt Johnson was seventh in 3:20.02.
Natalie Daniel led the Billiken women on day three, finishing 12th in the 200 free in 1:50.36.
Emily Smith,
Katelyn Brown,
Bri Hodgkins and Daniel were 10th in the 400 medley relay (3:49.65).
The A-10 Championships meet concludes Saturday.
