Box Score LOS ANGELES — The Saint Louis University baseball team defeated Loyola Marymount, 7-5, on Friday night.
The Billikens took an early lead with three runs in the top of the third inning, highlighted by a
Brenden Stressler home run and RBI singles from
Austin Neuweg and
Hayden Moore.
Saint Louis extended its lead with one run in the fourth and fifth innings, followed by two more in the sixth to go up, 7-2. The Lions scored two in the seventh and threatened in the bottom of the ninth, but only managed one run, bringing the final score to 7-5.
Max McGwire led the offense, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Seven different Billikens drove in runs during the game.
Ben Cherico earned the win, pitching 5.0 innings, while
Charlie Weber picked up the save. The duo combined for 17 strikeouts and just four walks.
