Billiken Volleyball Adds Kyle Cohan to Coaching Staff

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University Volleyball is excited to welcome Kyle Cohan as its new assistant coach. A Ballwin, Missouri native and former standout libero at Carthage College, Cohan brings championship experience and a strong defensive coaching background.

Cohan spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky, helping the Hilltoppers to a 58-12 record, two undefeated conference seasons, and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. He also coached club volleyball with Milwaukee Sting, guiding the 15Gold team to a national title in 2022.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kyle to our program. It always brings us joy when we can get the opportunity to bring a proud local talent back home to St. Louis," Head Coach Andrea Beaty said. "Kyle brings an incredible wealth of experience as player and as a coach with multiple championships on his resume.  His coaching specialty in serve receive and defense will be an asset to our team as we look to grow those areas. What excites us most about Kyle, is his alignment to our values and his passion for our sport, and our city.   His dedication, work ethic and commitment to excellence mirror our own, and we are confident that he will be a fantastic addition to our coaching staff. We look forward to seeing the impact Kyle will have on our team and are excited to have him on board as we continue to pursue greatness in all aspects of our program. Roll Bills!"

"I am so honored and humbled to be joining the volleyball staff at SLU," said Cohan. "Right away, I got a sense of the values and vision of the athletic department, along with the impact that Saint Louis University has on the surrounding community. I want to thank both Andrea and Steven for welcoming me into their program. They both have such a great energy about themselves to strive for success and develop the student-athletes here at SLU. I am excited to get to work and help reach new goals with this talented group."

As a player, Cohan competed at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, from 2019 to 2022. As the starting libero for most of his collegiate career, he helped lead the team to NCAA Division III National Championships in both 2021 and 2022, including an undefeated season in 2021. Over four years, he played in 79 matches and totaled 626 digs and over 100 assists. He led the team in single-season digs for three consecutive years and concluded his career ranked fifth in program history for total digs.

Cohan's individual accolades include being named an AVCA First Team All-American in 2022, a two-time AVCA All-West Region selection, the 2022 CCIW Defensive Player of the Year, and a First Team All-Conference honoree. He also earned CCIW Libero of the Week three times and was selected to the CCIW All-Academic Team twice.

A graduate of St. Louis University High School in 2018, Cohan was a four-year letter winner and helped lead the program to three state championships and one runner-up finish. He was a three-time First Team All-MCC and All-State Tournament selection and was named the Missouri State Tournament MVP as a senior. He played club volleyball with High Performance STL.

Cohan earned his bachelor's in marketing and management from Carthage and completed his Master's in Sports Administration at WKU.
