COLUMBIA, Mo. – Saint Louis returned from the semester break for the Show-Me Showdown, which was held Friday at the University of Missouri.
Among the highlights for the Billikens was sophomore Sam Lamaze's performance in the 400 meters. He broke his own school record in the event, finishing first overall in a time of 47.34.
"I felt like we had a solid start to the second part of the indoor season," SLU head coach Jon Bell said. "There are always question marks and concerns coming off a break like we just had. Without a doubt, we have some work to do before the A-10 Championships at the end of February. Sam Lamaze clearly lead the way for our men's team this weekend – a new school record and the seventh-fastest time in the country is a good start. Becky Phillips, Starr Scott, and Sophia Pelligreen were the leaders for our women's group this weekend."
Becky Phillips finished sixth in the women's 400 meters with a time of 57.41, which ranks second in the A-10 this year. Starr Scott was the winner in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.97. Sophia Pelligreen placed second in the 3,000 meters, finishing in 10:04.24.
Lukasz Iwanowski was the top collegiate finisher in the mile with a time of 4:18.01. Manny Vela won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:24.67.
Saint Louis is back at the University of Missouri for the Bob Teel Invitational Jan. 23-24. The Billikens' indoor schedule can be found here.
