BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - In keeping with the trend of the season thus far, Saint Louis' indoor track and field squad achieved several more school records at this weekend's Gladstein Invitational, held on the campus of the Indiana University.

"We continue to improve, which is encouraging considering how young of a team we have," SLU head coach Jon Bell said. "This was a good meet for us and we are excited where the team is right now. This meet, along with our next two at Northern Iowa and Nebraska, is great preparation for next month's A-10 Championships."

Justin Kwasa broke his own school record in the shot put, posting a mark of 43 feet, 4.5 inches to better his previous record of 41-5. He also bettered the SLU standard in the weight throw, tossing a 58-4.75 to finish seventh overall in the event.

Kalie Kirk, who has set a school record in each of the first three meets in her career, did so again this weekend in the 60-meter dash. She qualified for the finals in the event with a school-record preliminary time of 8.01. Kirk ended up placing 11th in the event with a finals time of 8.07.

Brian Holdmeyer ran a school-record time of 15:02.30 in the 5,000 meters, which was good for second overall. Sara Fraley (1:36.96) and Jordan Jennings (1:23.52) set school records in the men's and women's 600 meters.

The women's 4x800-meter relay squad of Maddie O'Quinn, Caitlin McCarthy, Jenna Romano and Fraley also set a school record on the day, crossing the finish line second with a time of 9:17.47.

Additional strong finishes for the Billikens included David Whelan qualified for the 60-meter dash finals after posting a preliminary time of 7.07, tying his season high. Brittney Cloudy won the triple jump with a mark of 39-1.

The Billikens are in action again next weekend when they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the Jack Jennett Invitational.
