CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Saint Louis track and field surpassed seven school records Saturday at the Jack Jennett Invitational at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.
On the men's side, four Billikens broke school records on the day. Jordan Jennings won the 1,000 meters, crossing in a new school-record time of 2:33.45. Brian Holdmeyer improved his school record in the mile with a time of 4:23.88.
Freshman Jack Hostettler entered the Billiken record book for the first time, posting a school record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:48.10. Dahmar Smiles improved his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing the preliminary heat in a time of 8.16.
Additional strong finishes on the men's side included David Whelan qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash and finished with a time of 7.13, while Kyle Ross placed third in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:38.61.
Three school records fell on the women's side. Maddie O'Quinn set the school standard in the 600 meters, placing second overall with a time of 1:34.36. Kalie Kirk lowered her own school record in the 60-meter dash, finishing second overall with a time of 7.97.
The Billikens' 4x400-meter relay team also registered a school record, finishing third with a time of 3:59.64. That squad was comprised of O'Quinn, Caitlin McCarthy, Jenna Romano and Sara Fraley.
Other quality results on the women's side included Amanda Labuz finished fourth with a season-best time of 11:17.27.
The Billikens return to action next weekend. The majority of the squad travels to Lincoln, Neb., for the Frank Sevigne Invitational, while the rest participate in the Keck Invitational in Bloomington, Ill.
