Records Fall at Ole Miss Invitational

Oxford, Miss. - Saint Louis track and field bettered seven school records Saturday at the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, Miss.

The women's team achieved four school records on the day. Kalie Kirk also bettered her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line 13th overall with a time of 1:03.78.

SLU's relay squads enjoyed a great day, registering school records in both the 4x100 and 4x400. The 4x100 squad of turned in an 11th-place time of 48.55. The 4x400 quartet of Ashley Roche, Alexander, Kirk and Mallory Dugger finished 10th with a time of 3:53.77.

Jenna Romano placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.14, while Elise Medley was 12th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:51.14. Kirk and Alexander finished 13th and 16th, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles with time of 14.98 and 15.14.

On the men's side, Justin Kwasa led the way with a school-record toss of 178-4 in the hammer. That mark was good for eighth overall. He also finished 21st in the discus with a throw of 134-1.

Dahmar Smiles improved his school record in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing sixth with a time of 52.75. He also placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.55.

The men's 4x100-meter relay also posted a school record, finishing 10th with a time of 42.43.

Mark Zimmer placed 13th in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 49.21, while Jack Hostettler posted a PR in the 5K with a seventh-place time of 15:24. Brian Holdmeyer finished 10th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:59.34.

The Billikens return to action next Saturday when they participate in the Gateway Classic at SIU Edwardsville's Korte Stadium.
