Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. - Fordham pushed across three runs in the bottom of the eighth en route to a 4-3 Atlantic 10 Conference baseball victory against Saint Louis Saturday at Houlihan Park.

The Billikens dip to 18-18 overall and 6-5 in the A-10, while the Rams improve to 12-21 and 7-4 in the league. The Billikens will look to salvage one game of the three-game set in Sunday's finale, which is slated for an 11 a.m. (CT) first pitch.

Saint Louis led the majority of the way, but a three-run double in the eighth by Fordham's Michael Taddei was the difference.

The Billikens opened the scoring with a run in the second. David Blackwell drove in a run on a fielder's choice, and the Billikens later loaded the bases again when Zach Miller walked. But Fordham got two strikeouts to end the threat and keep it a 1-0 ballgame.

Fordham scored in the bottom of the third, but SLU answered with two runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Blackwell and Miller posted back-to-back one-out singles, and J.D. Dunn, stroked a single to left to plate Miller and put the Billikens on top by two at 3-1.

That remained the score until the eighth when Fordham pushed across the eventual winning runs.

SLU starter Alex Alemann (5-4) was charged with the loss despite tossing another complete game, allowing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits. He struck out six and walked one.
