THE BASICS
•Saint Louis scored 29 runs and pounded out 26 hits on day two of the Frost Classic Saturday, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson 9-1 in five innings and Northwestern State 20-7 in six innings.
•The victories lifted the Billikens to 5-4 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
•Saint Louis grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on Mackenzie Peter's fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot, and a fielder's choice by Hailey Weavers.
•Emma Buckles made it 4-0 with an RBI double in the second.
•Allie Macfarlane doubled in two more runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 6-0.
•The Billikens tacked on three tallies in the fifth as Alex Nickel drew a bases-loaded walk and Peter produced a two-run single.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES – GAME 1
•Kaylea Chappelle allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter in improving to 2-0.
•Macfarlane had three hits (two doubles), while Buckles and Peter had two hits apiece.
•Nickel smacked her third triple of the season.
•Josie Knesel had a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
•The Billikens plated four runs in the top of the first. Peter got things going with an RBI single, Alyssa Tarquinio singled in a run, and Kallen Loveless produced a two-run double.
•Northwestern State matched SLU's four-run output in its half of the first, but the Bills took the lead for good in the second on Macfarlane's RBI single.
•Weavers led off the third with her first home run of the season, and another run scored on a throwing error.
•Mackenzie Lawson swatted a two-run double in the fourth, and a third run crossed on a wild pitch.
•In the fifth, Macfarlane's RBI infield single was followed by Tarquinio's second homer of the season, a two-run blast.
•Northwestern State scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to make it 13-6, but Saint Louis put the game out of reach with a seven-run sixth. Weavers knocked in two with a double, Peter notched an RBI single, and Macfarlane and Tarquinio registered RBIs on a bases-loaded walk and hit-by-pitch, respectively. Two more runs scored on passed balls.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES – GAME 2
•The Billikens recorded a season-high 15 hits. Macfarlane collected three hits, while Nickel, Peter, Tarquinio, Weavers, Loveless and Lawson (two doubles) had two apiece.
•Nickel and Weavers scored four runs apiece to tie SLU's single-game record.
